How often do you forget to breathe? Though it is hard to imagine, we often forget to breathe, especially during exercise or stressful moments. We all know that deep, cleansing breaths go far in calming and relaxing us, yet we do it so infrequently. A recent study investigated the impact of breath control on blood pressure and found that 10 minutes daily of slow, regular breathing proved effective in reducing blood pressure. The benefit was greatly increased when done in conjunction with a BIM (Breathe with Interactive Music) technology that provided guidance. For those looking for natural remedies for lowering blood pressure, begin with proper breathing for good blood flow requires not just clear pathways, but good oxygen, too. Grossman E, Grossman A, Schein MH, Zimlichman R, Gavish B. Breathing-control lowers blood pressure. J Hum Hypertens. 2001 Apr;15(4):263-9.
